Blog AWOL!

Posted on: June 11, 2014

Wow, it’s been a while.  But not like I haven’t been busy!  Finished up the house sit on the 29th and then flew to Arkansas that afternoon.

Craig bought calves to fatten up and sell in 4 months or so. He had them in a little holding pen for a couple days and then released them into their pasture.

On Friday Corban and Craig made pizza for Pizza and a Movie night.

Saturday Craig released the cows so we took turns seeing where they’d go or if they’d go into the field.  The black cow took off running, jumping and kicking up her heels.  She went straight to the pond.  They wandered all over the field checking out their new surroundings – “Free range cattle”.

Sunday to church and hung around the house getting the pool ready and hoping for warm IMG_0054weather.  We did swim 2 times and it felt so good!

Monday, Lance, Katelyn and I went to Van Buren to check out the antique stores and used book shops.  Unfortunately several places were closed on Monday, but we found a book store we didn’t know about and checked out a few quaint shops.  Had lunch at the Boomerang Diner and thinking we were full we managed to have ice cream at the Main Street Ice Cream Parlor with an Andy Griffin video playing.  A favorite of the McKenzie household.

Next we went to Hobby Lobby so Katelyn could buy room décor.  Having given her room a complete makeover, she was sprucing it up.  We had fun.  Even Lance got into the act.

Corban was a bit sad that he wasn’t include in the day out.  But I spend so much time with him during the day that it’s nice to have some alone time with the big kids.  He’s such a character.  Saying crazy things.  I wish I wrote them down when they happen, but we’re so busy and I’m so tired at the end of the day, that I don’t capture the moment.

Want to go to a place where everybody knows your name….  LaFiesta in Greenwood. They’ve been there so often that the waiters know to bring everyone their own salsa bowl and chips.  It is a great place.  We went 2 times and the first time Craig let them know it was Katelyn’s birthday.  She said she hated it, but was a good sport anyway.

Another night we walked along one of the many walking trails in the redeveloped Fort Chaffee.  At the end it was getting dark and my back was killing me.  Sometimes walking will do that.  We stopped while Lance ran up to get the car and rescue us – or maybe just me!

Wednesday was Katelyn’s birthday.  The kitchen area had the traditional decorations – will add more later.
