Books and prejudice

Posted on: October 19, 2012

Funny how the smallest things can prejudice you.  I’m reading “My Reading Life” and listening to “South of Broad” in the car.  Both by Pat Conroy.  I can’t believe it has taken me so long to find his works.  I am really enjoying them.

But I do know why it has taken so long – “Prince of Tides” – the movie. I hadn’t seen the movie, but the cover photo of Nick Nolte and Barbara Streisand made me think of a Nicholas Sparks movie.  I have read many Nicholas Sparks and found them lacking in writing skill.

So I lumped Pat Conroy with Nicholas Sparks without a fair trial.

Aren’t we that way in other areas of our lives – judging without giving something an objective look.

I stayed up much too late reading “My Reading Life”.  Beautifully written and inspiring.  Thanks, Pat!

Feeling better today, less tired, but with a nasty cough!
